The Afterlife

Q: Is there an afterlife?

A: For centuries, humans have pondered the mysteries of the afterlife. While there are many theories, the Bible asserts a clear understanding of the afterlife—supported by fulfilled prophecies. God’s testimony, rooted in these prophecies, explains the origins of human spirits as angels in heaven (Ecc 12:7). Due to grave sins, humans descended to earth in the flesh and now temporarily reside here.

“All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one ...”

The Bible teaches that salvation, achieved through Christ’s blood, restores individuals to their angelic state, allowing them to return to their heavenly home (Jn 6:53–54). In essence, the Bible provides a comprehensive narrative of our past, present, and future life, as well as the choices determining our afterlife.
